Guam Editorials
In Friday's Marianas Variety article titled, "Regional talks with US on 'militarization' sought" the reporter inaccurately states that the Association of Pacific Island Legislatures ( APIL) adopted a resolution supporting the Micronesian Center for a Sustainable Future.
In fact, the resolution was tabled and thus was not adopted by the body. Therefore, we did not express a sentiment that APIL supports this center.
As the incoming president of APIL, I also want to thank you for your coverage of our General Assembly.
I am in Saipan today to speak with the Governor, the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate about the possibility of Hawaii, Guam and CNMI joining together in our efforts regarding Compact Impact funding.
Mahalo,
Senator J. Kalani English
Chair, Committee on Transportation and International Affairs
The Hawaiian Senate
