Women's caucus gives endorsements

HONOLULU - Maui Sen. Roz Baker and House candidate Summer Starr were endorsed by the Hawaii Women's Political Caucus in their primary election campaigns.

The multiparty caucus backs women political candidates who reflect its goals of reproductive freedom, equal employment, stopping violence against women, and improving the health of women and families.

It also recommends male candidates who reflect those ideals. In Maui races, the caucus named state Sen. J. Kalani English (D-Upcountry, East Maui, Molokai, Lanai) and Joe Bertram III (D-South Maui).

Baker represents South and West Maui; Starr is running for the Upcountry district in the House.
