Legislation needed to prevent the spread of GMOs

I want to tell the people of Maui how angry I am at the bold and outright criminal actions of our Department of Health and the FDA when it comes to our health as it relates to many things, but specifically GMOs, genetically modified organisms.

I bet the readers do not know that the Department of Health and the FDA have allowed researchers as close as north Kihei, as well as numbers of other locations, including Molokai, to have testing grounds without enclosing them in a greenhouse or other containment system to prevent pollens from untested genetically modified organisms to be blown in the air.

I would like to see a full and open investigation of this abuse. We should be cheering for those that stand up against GMOs like Sen. J. Kalani English, Rep. Mele Carroll and Sen. Gary Hooser.

People, please respond with letters to your congressional, state and county representatives. Make them take a stand against this immediately or do not vote for them.

We who are against genetically modified organisms, plants crossed genetically with animals and insects, etc., are not radicals. We are the average person, the everyman and everywoman, standing up for our right to not be contaminated by the unsafe, untested and unshielded growing of plants. If we test something, it should be in a contained laboratory, not in the open air we breathe.
