Environmental work force measure still alive in Legislature

Thank you for the Jan. 5 editorial "Alien fight needs personnel" in support of efforts to eradicate alien pests. Last year I introduced several measures to protect the Hawaiian Islands as one of the most isolated archipelago in the world.

Senate Bill 505, which would provide funding for an emergency environmental work force, passed the Senate and is now pending in the House. This bill would provide the needed resources for the efforts advocated in your editorial.
